Tamiya 1/48 A6M3 Type32 Zero Fighter Kit - CO125

Much has been written over the years about the Japanese Zero Fighter Aircraft series. Much was based upon hearsay and legend and little upon fact itself. Even the Allied Forces and governments refused at first to acknowledge its existence, and when they did get a copy of it, they could hardly believe the performance it produced. Tamiya 1/48 Nakajima A6M2-N (Rufe)

The Type 2 floatplane fighter, otherwise known as the A6M2-N (Allied reporting name "Rufe"), was created to provide reconnaissance and defense for remote Japanese outposts such as the Aleutian Islands in WWII. It was essentially a normal A6M2 Zero which had its landing gear replaced with floats. This kit accurately depicts this unique aircraft and features plenty of engine and cockpit detail. The canopy may be assembled in either open or closed position and parts for the beaching trolley are also included. The kit also comes with two pilot figures and seven marking options.

Tamiya 1/72 Kawanishi Shiden Type 11

Evolving from the Kawanishi N1K1 "Kyofu" floatplane, the Imperial Japanese Navy's N1K1-J Shiden had a unique pedigree amoung WW2 landplane fighters of the world. In January 1942, the Kawanishi Aircraft firm began adaptation of the Kyofu into a land based fighter, strictly as a private venture. This project was soon officially authorized under the designation N1K1-J, with the first prototype flying in December 1942. The airframe was basically the same as its predecessor, with main landing gear and tall wheel replacing the floats. In place of Kyofu's Mitsubihi Kasei engine, a more compact and powerful Nakajima Homare engine was installed.

Those that remained gave sterling service during the Battle of Britain, helping to quickly refuel fighters in between sortie, their three refueling hoses drastically cutting down the time needed.
