The Spitfire MkV was one of the most successful 'temporary' fighters ever introduced into the Royal Air Force, having been rushed into service following experiences up against the Bf109's of the Luftwaffe. Over one hundred and forty RAF squadrons operated the type. It served on all battlefronts and was supplied to nine other countries including the Soviet Union and the United States.

The PRXVI was faster than all of the fighters of its era except the Messerschmitt Me163 rocket plane and the Me262 jet fighter. Used in many roles – bomber, fighter and photo reconnaissance, the Mosquito was one of the most successful aircraft of the Second World War.

By the outbreak of WWII over 400 Albion 3-Point Fuellers were in use with the RAF both in Europe and the Far and Middle East. Many went to France with the RAF in 1940, and suffered a similar fate to the vehicles of the British Army, being abandoned on the run back to Dunkirk.

Those that remained gave sterling service during the Battle of Britain, helping to quickly refuel fighters in between sortie, their three refueling hoses drastically cutting down the time needed.

The maiden flight of the Boeing 747-8 took place on 20.3.2011. Its innovation, advanced technology and efficiency is impressive. The Boeing 747-8 is a newly developed aircraft. It is based on the positive features of the proven Boeing 747 series. Cargolux Airlines International based in Luxembourg, one of the leading dedicated air cargo carriers, was the launch customer and also first operator of the new 747-8F and also had a significant influence on its design. Cargolux was established in Luxembourg in 1970. It already operated the 747-200F and also the 747-400F. Together with the Boeing company it launched the 747-8F program in 2005 after ordering 14 aircraft. The 747-8F presents new standards in the fields of fuel efficiency and noise reduction. Its cargo capacity is 16% higher than that of its predecessor, its CO² emissions are 14% lower. The Cargolux 747-8F has achieved high profitability and its aircraft are in the air for nearly 16 hours a day. They have thus become a force to be reckoned with and powerful adversary in international logistics.

The Euro Fighter Typhoon was designed as a new generation high performance multi-role fighter aircraft. By early 2013, more than 350 Eurofighters had been delivered. Due to the large proportion of carbon fibre components and other advanced materials, the Eurofighter - in the Royal Air Force often simply referred to as the Typhoon - is very light and has excellent stealth characteristics. The two-seat versions have the same combat capabilities as the single-seaters and were initially used for training purposes, until special squadron's were established for air-to-ground missions. With a top speed of in excess of Mach 2.0 the Euro Fighter dominates both long and short range air-to-air combat as well as air-to-ground missions. For an enemy, the aircraft is difficult to locate due to its low radar signature and the use of non-metallic materials.

The Vought Corsair was one of the most unusual but also successful naval aircraft of World War 2. Feared by her Japanese opponents who nicknamed her the Whispering Death she fought her way across the Pacific sky's during 1943-1945, scoring record-braking successes: 2140 enemy aircraft destroyed against 189 own losses. The combined fire-power of the Corsair consisted of six 12.7 mm Browning machine guns. Her characteristic bent wing gave it a prominent recognition feature for Ground Forces which called her the Sweetheart of Okinawa . The F4U-1A was the first production lot with many modifications. Top speed 671km/h (416 mph)

The EC135 P2 has been in production at Eurocopter since 2002. It is regarded as the most cost-effective and quietest helicopter in its class. In 2011, the Franco-German Company delivered its 1000th EC135 to the ADAC. With 49 of its own escue and Intensive-Care Helicopters, 180 employees and 37 Air Rescue Stations at daily readiness the ADAC Air Rescue Service Ltd is the largest air rescue organization in Germany. By the end of 2012, the ADAC had undertaken approximately 690,000 operational sorties. The ADAC works together with more than 700 Flying Doctors and 260 HEMS crew members. In the first half of 2013, the Yellow Angel of the Skies took off some 25,500 times and helped approximately 23,000 people. Fitted with the new Particle Filter System IBF (Inlet Barrier Filter), EC135 P2 D-HBYF, has been in service with the ADAC Air Rescue Service since March 2011.

The Spitfire is probably the most legendary aircraft of the Second World War. It was built in countless variations continuously until well after the end of the Second World War. Over 22,500 were built. The 12 cylinder Merlin engine with initially 1,175 bhp designed specifically for the Spitfire was so outstanding, that it was also built under license in the USA. The RAF had already introduced the Spitfire Mk I into their Fighter Wings before the beginning of the Second World War. They proved their capability in the Battle of Britain. The first Spitfire Mk II left the factory in Castle Bromwich as early as August 1940. It was now fitted with a 3-blade propeller as standard and received additional armour for the pilot. A total of 990 Mk II Spitfires were built. In addition to its role as an interceptor, the Spitfire also saw service as a fighter bomber and photo-reconnaissance aircraft.
