Released for four seasons in the seventies, the Starsky and Hutch series took the cop drama genre and ran with it. Mustangs were some of the most popular cars Ford produced. Early models raked in sales figures that rivaled the Model A. By the mid-eighties, however, the line was losing ground to stiff competition. The revamped 5.0 model was released in 1987 and quickly became popular because it was cheap and powerful. The legendary C-54 was used for intercontinental transport operations and set numerous records. She was the first mass produced four-engine aircraft to make trans-atlantic crossings. The Douglas Aircraft Company began development of the DC-4 passenger aircraft in 1938. This was changed to become the C-54 long-range military transport aircraft after the United States entered the war in 1942. A total of 1,160 C-54 aircraft have been built. First flights across the Pacific to resupply troops fighting against the Japanese and repatriate the wounded began in 1942. Numerous modifications and special versions made the C-54 one of the most versatile of all military aircraft. Amongst other missions it also served as the President's airplane. The C-54 achieved special recognition during the Berlin Airlift when it became known as the Candy Bomber . It was used to completely resupply the three Western Sectors of the city during 1948 -1949.

The Euro Fighter Typhoon was designed as a new generation high performance multi-role fighter aircraft. By early 2013, more than 350 Eurofighters had been delivered. Due to the large proportion of carbon fibre components and other advanced materials, the Eurofighter - in the Royal Air Force often simply referred to as the Typhoon - is very light and has excellent stealth characteristics. The two-seat versions have the same combat capabilities as the single-seaters and were initially used for training purposes, until special squadron's were established for air-to-ground missions. With a top speed of in excess of Mach 2.0 the Euro Fighter dominates both long and short range air-to-air combat as well as air-to-ground missions. For an enemy, the aircraft is difficult to locate due to its low radar signature and the use of non-metallic materials. The strength of this weapon system is based on a balanced combination of properties such as extreme agility due to its aerodynamic design and high performance engines, weapons, sensors, automated data management and low radar signature. The Euro Fighter impresses with its extreme manoeuvrability. It is designed primarily as an air superiority fighter for airspace protection and is equipped for this role with a mixed armament of powerful short and medium range air-to-air missiles. For advanced air-to-ground missions, the Euro Fighter carries a large load of weapons on functionally adapted weapons stations. The Euro Fighter not only combines innovative and advanced technologies, but is also an International Program of great political and economic importance. A Weapons System Officer supports the pilot during missionsin the two-seat fighter-bomber role. This system is already being practised in the RAF and trained for in the German Air Force.

The Phantom has earned itself a legendary reputation as the workhorse of the western air forces. The two-seat interceptor is one of the most versatile and powerful aircraft of the last 40 years. The Phantom was used in 11 countries and achieved numerous world records. The F-4F version entered service with the German Air Force in 1974 which put 185 aircraft to use in the roles of interceptor and fighter bomber. WTD 61 operates out of the airfield at Ingolstadt-Manching where it has a fleet of fully instrumented flying test aircraft as well as measuring equipment and test rigs. The range of tasks undertaken by WTD 61 covers the entire spectrum of military aviation technology throughout all phases of development and includes the use of ordnance. With the introduction of the F-4F weapon system into the German Air Force in 1974, the former test site E 61 in Manching initially received two of these aircraft for test flying to gather performance data and to expand the range of conventional armaments in the air-to-ground role. With the ramping up of the Combat Improved F-4F at the end of the 80s, the F-4F with the tactical markings 38+13 was transferred from the then JaBoG 36 at Rheine as prototype test-bed to Manching. The very last flight of a German F-4F was undertaken at Manching airbase by 38+13 on 30.07.2013 with 4801 total flight hours in this uniquely successful custom livery with Lt. Col. Ritter and Lt. Col. Geisse as the crew.
